The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) are the most important change in data privacy regulation the past few years. They are designed to protect and empower citizens data privacy and reshape the way organizations approach data privacy. However, bridging the gap between the legal framework and available technological implementation measures still needs to be addressed. In particular, in the case of emerging data-driven applications, data needs to conform to specified patterns and corresponding tools need to assess how well they conform.

This master thesis will try to answer questions like: (i) how can my personal data be deleted? (ii) how does this affect archiving or other people personal data, e.g., in the case of social media? (iii) what are the different implementation strategies of erasure?
